Security

How much security do I need?

If you have a single computer or a network of computers you need to think about security. If you are connected to the Internet, you have more to be worried about.

Physical Security.

Limit physical access to your computers to those who "need" access. Your accounting computers should be limited to accounting personnel, marketing computers to marketing personnel and engineering computers to engineering personnel.

Virus Protection

Viruses can and will attack your network from floppy disks, applications downloaded from the Internet and e-mail. You need to have virus protection on each computer, the server and the e-mail server.

Network Security

Having good passwords and forcing users to change their passwords on regular intervals go a long way to securing your network.

Internet Security

If your computer is connected to the Internet, you have provided access for millions to access your computer unless you have a firewall. There are large groups of hackers out there with programs scanning the Internet looking for unprotected computers. You need a firewall!
