GM’s Global Supply Chain Operations (GSCO) is the hosting organization for GVC implementations. Covansys team is working with the GSCO organization and its other vendors to provide the services.

GME consists of 2 major modules: 1. GM-GVC for USA, 2. GME OWB GVC - GM Europe Order Work Bench GVC for UK.
GME OWB has been developed by GVC Vauxhall B2C Project Team for General Motors. GVC Vauxhall B2C project will enhance the current Global Vehicle Configurator will support Vauxhall B2C functions and allow Vauxhall B2C Application to re-architect and rebuild the existing Vauxhall Web site on the Northstar architecture, replicating like for like functionality. This is architectured in various tiers – web tier, site app tier, GVC app tier and Data tier. The OVC EJB Layer includes GM EJB and CZ EJB components, which run within web logic application server. GM EJB layer includes GM Bean and Oracle Configuration layer includes CIO Layer and DIO Layer, which performs vehicle configuration transactions with Oracle Database.

This set mainly consists of applications named Event Management System (EMS), Audit Information Management System (AIMS), Temporary Work Allocation (TWA), Lotus Domino Scheduling application, and Design Planning Form generator (DPG) applications. Event Management System (EMS) and Audit Information Management System (AIMS) are the work flow applications works on Client and Web browsers and used by Corporate Services and Audit Service Groups respectively. “Temporary Work Allocation (TWA)” is a Document Library application is an electronic filing cabinet that stores reference documents for access by a workgroup. The database might contain anything from environmental impact statements for a group of engineers to financial statements for a group of loan officers. “Lotus Domino Scheduling application” is used for Scheduling/ Rescheduling of corporate conference rooms across the company and is widely used by all employees. “Design Planning Form generator (DPG)” is being used in the Lotus Notes environment by Transmission and Distribution Business Unit (TDBU) Planners of SCE. This package is developed for Singapore Airlines to produce management reports and consolidate fuel-related information for reference & analysis. Main objective this is generating reports for management info. For finance to verify the price of Jet fuel & for flight operations to assist them in optimizing the tanking of fuel. This system also maintains & collects a database of jet fuel prices & other useful pricing data, which could be used for comparison, trend analysis for costing.
Responsibilities: Analysis of previous system running using FoxPro. Designing of the system database. Development of Front-end maintenance screens, report interfaces. Development of Front-end maintenance screens, Report interfaces. Development of data transfer programs between mainframe and oracle and SOS files. Involved in the testing & implementations of above jobs.
